Shahzad Hassan Ghazi

Shahzad’s work brings together classical and contemporary artistic languages through a sustained exploration of ornamentation. Although ornament has long been a fundamental component of visual culture, it was largely excluded from mainstream art practices throughout much of the twentieth century. By reintroducing ornament as both an aesthetic and conceptual device, Shahzad challenges established hierarchies of taste and opens new conversations between tradition and contemporary artistic practice.
