One of the most renowned representatives of French Romanticism, Eugène Delacroix was invited to join the French mission to Morocco. In 1832, during his visit to Tangier, he created numerous sketches, many of which can be viewed at the Louvre Museum in Paris. One such sketch is of a Moroccan man titled „Seated Arab in Tangier“.
However, one of the most promising contemporary artists under the patronage of the mega-gallery Hauser & Wirth, Allison Katz, revived memories of Delacroix's sketch. She reinterpreted it through her creative perspective, incorporating it into her exploration of geometry in her painting project.
